The Little Next Door
Never leave home without your camera.
My #1 rule (see above) was of course broken on Monday night when I went to The Little Next Door for the first time. This is what happens when you're a girl and you switch purses all the time.
Nevertheless, I want to share my great experience and delicious dishes with you people.
Some of you may be familiar with The Little Door, one of LA's most romantic restaurants. European inspired, this restaurant has a vast selection of fine wine and an impeccable selection of fancy food. Since this is one of those restaurants you'd probably take your significant other on a fancy shmancy date, The Little Next Door is a great alternative if you don't want to go down that route. This restaurant is more of a deli cafe and artisan marketplace.
The Little Next Door has indoor and outdoor seating, but I highly suggest the outdoor patio for more of a French feel. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all served, Sunday-Saturday. The menu includes dinner specials, sandwiches, salads, freshly baked organic breads, pastries, egg dishes and a variety of their famous house-made jams and preserves with a wonderful selection of wines from around the world.
With so much yumminess to choose from, we decided to each order an entree and share two appetizers:
Appetizer #1:
Pommes Frites
shoestring french fries sprinkled with garlic and herbs - DELISH.
Appetizer #2:
Artisan Cheese Plate
chef's selection of artisan cheeses with condiments and bread - With this item, you have the option of going with 3 or 5 cheeses. We went with 5 and they were all pretty good: a bleu, 2 brie's, 2 creamy goats, caramelized pecans, red grapes and apple slices.
(*note, their selection of cheeses are seasonal)
My Entree:
Turkey Panini
house smoked turkey, smoked bacon, avocado, wild arugula, homemade thousand island on rye bread - I went sans bacon, but it was still SO good. The homemade dressing combined with the rye bread really did the trick.
By the end of this meal, I was at capacity which of course meant no room for dessert. This just means I'll have to come back soon!
The Little Next Door: 8142 West 3rd Street, LA CA 90048. 323.951.1210
Until then,
Shabby
